ECIX was founded in 2001 and operates as a wholly-owned infrastructure in several European locations. We are the second largest German Internet Exchange Point (IXP) and one of Europe's ten largest IXPs.

In August 2016, ECIX was acquired by Megaport, growing our reach significantly and broadening our service offering. You can read more about what this means for our peering customers here.

Located in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich, ECIX provides a neutral traffic exchange for access providers, carriers, datacentres, content delivery networks, non-profit organizations and hosters - essentially everyone who needs peering.

ECIX can also offer remote peering and transport to further locations - such as Amsterdam, Nuremberg and Luxembourg - and other IXPs.
